It’s a Start

Now, let’s usher him out of the building for good. Despite what Donnie Walsh says, the Knicks do not need Isiah Thomas hanging around. At the very least that asshole is no longer coach of a once proud franchise. Can we find a way to dump the Dolans too? They haven’t done much of anything for this franchise. I guess, however, even the greatest of journeys begins with the small step of FIRING ISIAH THOMAS. WOO HOO! Happy Friday.

Something I’d be Happy to Pour My Tax Dollars Into

My wife and I are new parents. Five weeks, two days, 17 hours and 45 minutes or so at the time of writing this. What does that mean? It means we’re tired. All the time. Every single second of the day is tired. This morning Shannon said to me that we could use three or four people to raise our one baby (he looks cute in the pictures, but it can be deceiving at 3am). One serious thing she said to me this morning was that she had a new found respect for single parents. I thought about it for a second and totally agree.

A recent news article on CNN said that single parents cost U.S. tax payers over $100 billion a year. Weirdo fringe groups are using this study (and I believe they sponsored it) to encourage the government to encourage programs supporting marriage. There is so much wrong with that, I don’t know where to begin. Let’s see:
1) The government has NO PLACE in the lives of private citizens. It should not encourage marriage in any way, shape, or form. That decision rests solely in the hands of private citizens.
2) Being a single parent doesn’t make people bad. It doesn’t mean they need to be fixed. It doesn’t mean that they are worse than a two parent household. It means they have it harder than the rest of us.
3) I’d gladly give my taxes to helping these people. What does help mean? It means money for food, housing, childcare, and health insurance.
4) Remember what the national debt was when W came to office? I think it was, hmmm let me see. ZERO. Now it is an obscene amount that I can’t fathom. Go look at it here. What if we took some of the trillions of dollars spent on a pointless war, tax cuts for the oil companies, etc. and spent it on single parents and their children? The same conservative groups that bitch and moan about families falling apart and the amount of money that single parent households cost the government, these same assholes piss money away on war and corporate tax breaks. It would be nice if they pulled their heads out of their asses and got their priorities straight, wouldn’t it? Nine trillion dollars could go a long way.

Leave it to the French…

The French know art, cooking, how to relax, etc. One thing they don’t seem to get is freedom of expression. Once again the French are trying to ban certain speech they don’t like. It started with the banning of religious symbols in schools and now they want to ban the promotion of extreme thinness. What next, let’s ban offensive political speech? It’s funny how so many Americans get upset with the French and Europeans, but it’s for all the wrong reasons. Their stance on the Iraq war wasn’t offensive but this sure is.

New York Rangers and the Stanley Cup Playoffs

Living in the south, I often hear a lot about ACC basketball. In fact, I live in the center of ACC country and constantly hear about March madness. Now that that nonsense is over, we can focus on the real tournament worth covering: the Stanley Cup Playoffs. That being said my beloved New York Rangers are leading their first round series with the New Jersey Devils 2-0. The thing that is most frustrating to me right now is that television coverage of the NHL is SO bad that I’m not able to watch all the games.

The lameness that is Versus (thanks ESPN for dropping hockey… assholes) has forced me to be a little more creative. I’ve found a great blog run by the New york Times that is not only covering the playoffs but also offered a very cool link today. Go here for a treasure-trove of information.

Let’s go Rangers, I hope to see more of you on television in the second round.

Stanley Cup Hockey

It’s April and we all know what that means:  time for Stanley Cup Hockey.  While there are sixteen teams in the running, I really only care about one – The New York Rangers. The Rangers open their quest for the Cup at the Devils this Wednesday night. The games, of course, won’t be televised. I am positive we’ll get more Pittsburgh and Ottawa than we should. Regardless, here are some articles on the upcoming series between the two rivals.
LET’S GO RANGERS…

So hello out there,…

So hello out there, this is a test of Jott. It’s kind of a cool little application you use with your mobile phone. I found it at Jott.com and wanna see how it works so that while I’m on the road I can actually keep blogging and ranting and complaining. Lets see how it works, and I’ll go to the page in a little bit, so I will get my rambling thoughts as they come out of my mouth now instead of via the key board. HA HA! listen

Let’s Go New York

Today should be opening day (unless it rains again) for my beloved New York Yankees. The Daily News featured a wonderful article about the wonderful life of Yankee Stadium. The Yankees are relying on some young arms and a potent line up. Some experts think they won’t make the playoffs, I say let’s win the division and embarass the Red Sox this year. I agree with Hank, Red Sox Nation my ass. It’s a bunch of bandwagon idiots who would root for the Kansas City Royals if they were winners. It’s a myth. Now the Yankees’ Evil Empire, that’s real and something to be proud of.

On another note, the New York Rangers are trying to climb the ranks of the Eastern Conference with just three games left. The Rangers are trying to make the playoffs for the third year straight (after a LONG dry stretch) and won a a thriller against the Pens last night.
